Bangkok 2012

Hello!!!!!! We're back in Bangkok again!

Welcome to - Guide to Bangkok! I'll show you all the cheap and good food, hotel and shopping malls around! (I can never be wrong cuz we've been there and gone back to the same restaurants/stores again & again!)

This was taken during our first night, around 12mn Singapore time when we arrived in Bangkok at night and had Mcd's for dinner. McThai serves chicken rice in Thai-style for just 69 baht and it comes with a drink! So worth it! They had large portions of chicken that we couldn't even finish. What I like most is still rice in Thailand.
Staying in Arnoma Hotel can never be wrong. Central World is just opposite, BigC Supermart beside, and Chit Lom BTS Station just in a few steps! The hotel is almost what one could ask for considering the big big hotel lobby and the wonderful staffs. No joke. They're so sincere and helpful! I'll tell you why later.
Had our first day (Sunday) spent in the must-go Chatuchuk! It's a weekend market that's why we had to go there first! Went back to some of the shops for our usual stuffs like demin shorts for 150baht (can try summore) and some korean fashion stores! We can be expert alrd. I especially choose this photo of us because this shop has air-con & that shopkeeper was awesome! He offered each of us a big bag to collect all our stuffs in case we miss out one or two along our way! So good right! Bought a number of tops from him cuz they're mad comfy!
Tourist picture in Chatuchuk! Got an ang mo to take for us in case someone takes our Canon G10 and run away LOL!
Settled dinner at Big C! It's the most convenient place I would say. Just beside our hotel and it has so many restaurants to choose from!

家族亭 for our 2nd night, a Japanese restaurant on the 5th floor.
Super cheap food! With side dishes!
We all had udons and I think it was less than a 80 baht. Cheap right! In a restaurant leh!
After that, we walked over to Central World for our Cold Stone dessert! Wasn't too cheap but definitely cheaper than the other we see in town. Choco Mint and Caramel Banana's our pick!
Another one of our "must have" in Bangkok is their Red Mango Frozen Yogurt! It's not exactly cheap but I personally prefer this to any other frozen yogurts!
Went back to the supermart in Big C for some grocery shopping, convenient much! Met some weirdo aunties from Singapore who blocked our way and scolded us when all we did was telling them "excuse me".  Forget about that, not a good experience.
Super cheap and nice candies! Bought them last year and went back for it again! Nobody can imagine the joy my sister and xuan had when they found it haha! Super cheap also! 15baht each!
Ended our 2nd day in Bangkok with a "hot" foot bath in our own hotel bathtub cum Jacuzzi!

Another place you need to visit if you're a fan of IT gadgets in Bangkok is Mahboonkrong (also known as MBK centre)! So we went for a visit thinking of getting portable chargers and phone casings after we had our usual prayer at the famous 4-faced buddha at the corner of our hotel.

This is the store we always patronise. They don't sell things cheap, 100bahts on average, but they've got nicer and friendlier staffs plus a larger variety all over the wall! Unfortunately, they're still very into "iPhones" so the designs for BB and Samsung's a little dull.
Another "must-eat" is this Tom Yam Goong in the food court in MBK Centre! Super traditional and cheap! 90baht for the seafood Tom Yam Goong. We had 2 bowls between the 6 of us! They have 2 stalls selling the same thing but we always patronise the one in the middle cuz they have nicer soup base!
Their seafood fried rice in thai style's good too!
On our way back, we bought this Mickey hair band thing for 20baht on the road side and wore it shopping in Platinum Mall. Everyone stares at us but, we don't care.
To tell you how convenient our hotel location is, here another place we walked to. Hard Rock Cafe Bangkok is located near Siam Paragon, and the hotel staff told us to walk there instead of taking a cab. So we grabbed a map and walked. And ta-da! T'was about 20-25mins walk (of course you must be able to read the map as good as me cuz the roads always change!)
 BBQ Chicken Wings!
 Mac and Cheese
 Baked Potato
 Nachos
 The Chung Cheng gang
 & the Geylang Methodist Gang
Had an impomptu deicision to celebrate Sabrina Sis's Birthday so we ordered a brownie and the cafe staffs had everyting else prepared for us! Overwhelmed by the excellent service we get from them. I am pretty sure we seldom even get this kind of service in Singapore.
Gave her a surprise Birthday present, the Hard Rock Cafe shirt which she always wanted to get after visiting Bangkok for umpteen times.
A group shot taken with our camera by the Cafe manager. He even developed another one for us on the spot! Cool or what right!
Check out the video we took! She was extremely surprised!
& the Polaroids!
On our 4th day, we visited the more atas place - Central Bangkok. It's like a departmental store and of course you cannot bargain. But things like are cheaper due to the exchange rate! Especially Lingerie! Super good deal!

While the rest were picking theirs, Xuan and I went to the toys department for the FOC carrossel!
Why is the Pooh Bear so cute!
The Greyhound Cafe serves awesome food! It's located inside Central, and it's catered for the richer Thais cuz everyone we see inside the restaurant wears like tai tai!
We settle for lunch in this restaurant during our visit 5 years back, didn't have it last year, so we thought it was a must-have this time round.

The bread was so so soft and the butter! Can you imagine! Cannot right, go eat!
 Ham and Cheese toast
Thai-style Spaghetti with chicken and mushrooms!
My sister had Beef Lagsana which was good too! Qing had Mac & Cheese, the plate that brought us back there.

After that, the 4 of us took a tuk-tuk back to Platinum Mall and went for shopping madness.

Settled dinner after walking back from Platinum, at Big C again.
Cannot remember the restaurant's name but it was somewhere near the one we had our Udon!
 Super Cheap Ramen this time!
Tom Yam Goong Seafood Ramen! The rest had Terriyaki Chicken and Smoked Duck Ramen! All under 100baht! Cheap or what right!!!!!!!!!!!!
And then on our last day of the trip, we had to spend all our money! Which place is better than Platinum Mall right! I think we walked to and fro Platinum for almost 6 7 times for the entire trip, meaning we went there everyday! Started off with Zone 1 and 2 before we proceeded to Zone 3.
Xuan & Huan in the picture abv, Qing and I below!
And then..............we asked this Singaporean daddy to take a picture for us at the door of Platinum Mall before we proceeded to look for lunch!
Another "must-try" is this Santa Fe Steak House located on the 6th floor of Central World! We came across this restaurant by chance during our last trip there and they serve super cheap western food! If you think Astons is cheap, you can have this at HALF THE PRICE! It's at a corner of the food street, straight down from Mcd's!
Terriyaki Chicken Steak at 73 baht! That's less than S$3 I warn you first!
That's my grilled dory at 79bahts, just a little over S$3! WHERE TO FIND RIGHT! (I love the Garlic bread too!)
After that, we went back to the hotel and packed our luggage. Checked out at around 4pm Bangkok time!
I don't know why that Bell Boy told us to "look up" for our photo. But, we don't care. Except for Xuan & Huan haha! Can see right, how grand is our hotel drop off point!
OK THIS ONE! AUNTY ANNE'S in Bangkok! Don't eat, don't regret! Most of the pretzels are at 29/39 baht, depending on the flavour and this cheese chicken sausage thing is only at 59baht! Singapore where to find right! We had almost 3 meals of Aunty Anne's this time round and this is always our first choice when we're low in cash. Filling yet satisfying.
Mango Glutinous rice at 100baht in Big C's food court. This plate fed the 6 of us. Big or not you tell me!

Our Hotel's on the left, in the background beside "supermart" you can tell. That's Big C by the way. All the shopping and road-side stalls are just downstairs and opposite! Btw, this is a 2-way road (cannot tell right) and I took this picture on the overhead bridge we've been crossing every single day.
& last of all, we went there by #flyscoot!
That's all people! Hire me! I can be your tourguide :')

Check out the rest of our photos here!
